Grain is at the center of life for most farmers in Pakistan. The International Rescue Committee is working to help the poorest farmers, many of whom are still struggling to recover from the devastating floods of 2010, protect that essential crop. As the IRC’s Ned Colt reports from northern Pakistan, the hope is that the project can be expanded to include thousands more farm families.

For tens of thousands of villagers in rural Pakistan, the International Rescue Committee is providing the first medical care many have had in years. As part of the IRC's comprehensive 2010 flood recovery program, medical teams are now taking their knowledge and skills directly to those in most need. The IRC's Ned Colt reports from rural Sindh Province.

Dr. Milhia Kader works at an International Rescue Committee hospital in Dadaab, Kenya, treating refugees who have fled drought and famine in neighboring Somalia. Dr. Kader says that 17% of children arriving in local refugee camps are malnourished. Her unit provides lifesaving care for kids who have severe malnutrition with medical complications. She introduces us to 3-year-old Aden, one of her many young patients who have improved considerably with treatment from the IRC.
